"It makes business sense for diamond companies to integrate jewellry manufacturing, because diamond jewellery highly popular, and its demand is on the rise,"said KK Sharma, executive director of India Diamond Institute (IDI).Many diamond cutting companies in the city are already engaged in jewellery manufacturing. We are expecting more companies to follow suit Shama added.According to industry predictions, diamond jewellery sales are all set for a big leap in the coming years. Global diamond jewellery dales are expected to increase from around $ 70 billion at present to $95 billion by 2015.
In India, diamond jewellery sales are estimated at $ 2 billion, which would increase to nearly $7 billion by 2015. Diamond jewellery persently accounts for nearly 15% of the total jewellery consumption in the country, which is expected to ries to 15%in the next eight years.
Many local companies have also forayed into manufacturing and retainling of branded jewellery .
Some of the famouse diamond jewellery drands offered by local companies are cygnus, sanginikiah ciemme and kisna.
"With rising income levels, more and more people are now looking to buy diamond jewellery. The demand for branded jewellery will be especially high which will drive the geowth of gem and jewellery sector," Chadrakant sanghavi, partner sanghavi,Exports, which sells Sangini diamond jewellery.
