Considered by experts as the largest city of diamond polishers in the world, it is now poised to surpass even Belgium and Israel in its distinction of bringing the sparkle out of the diamonds.
Every day loads of diamonds are cut, sliced and polished to bring out their shimmering beauty churning out almost $150 million worth of this priceless jewel. A rough estimate puts the number of skilled diamond cutters in Surat at around 300,000!
